Deacons’ Sewing Project
April 9, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - April 30, 2017 @ 1:00 pm EDT
The Deacons are looking for assistance from the OBC congregation to help with the Claremont Lafayette Presbyterian Kenyan Students Project. This Project entails making washable pads for Kenyan Teenagers. These girl are apparently missing school during their monthly menstrual cycles; which prevents them from graduating school. OBC Deacons are asking our OBC brothers and sisters for help with this project. We will meet on April 9th after church in the parlor, to start cutting patterns of the Pads on cotton and flannel cloth. Please join us with this mission. Our first workshop will be held Sunday, April 9th, following the worship service.
If Anyone has new or clean used cotton or fleece cloth or sheets, baby flannel blankets, sewing machine threads, scissors, and pins to donate to the making of the pads, please let a Deacon know. We also need individuals who have a sewing machine and their expertise to sew the pads. We are also collecting hotel size bar soaps, body wash, shampoo and lotion. Lastly, the Kenyan girls need size 5 to 7 under wear and size small to medium short to used for play so they can change out of their uniforms . They are also asking for size small to medium briefs and shorts for the boys. If anyone desires to buy one pack of under wear of the above categories, the Kenyan students will appreciate your charity towards them. Please give if you are able. God Bless!
