SDOP & Jersey City Together Workshop
July 28, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - August 25, 2018 @ 3:00 pm EDT
The Self Development of People program of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Jersey City Together will host a workshop on Biblical & Spiritual Foundations of Justice. The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 28th, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.
Come explore the spiritual and biblical foundations for our work in justice. Discover insights about privilege and power, and how to tap into the power of community organizing for positive change.
Rev. Alonzo Johnson, Coordinator for Self Development of People, and Margaret Mwale, Associate for Community Development and Constituent Relations, will lead the workshop. Self Development of People is one of the outreach programs funded by the One Great Hour of Sharing.
Self-Development of People is a ministry that affirms God’s concern for humankind. We are Presbyterians and ecumenical partners dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, united in faith and action through sharing, confronting, and enabling by participating in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people, seeking to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice.
SDOP Core Strategies:
- Promote Justice
- Build stronger communities
- Seek economic equity
The workshop is free and open to anyone interested. A lunch will be held at 12:30. Please call the church office 201-433-1815 or email oldbergenchurch@gmail.com if you plan to attend the lunch.
