Food Pantry

Old Bergen Church holds a Food Pantry the last Saturday of each month (with the exception of November and December when the Food Pantry is the Saturday before Thanksgiving and Christmas). It is held in the fellowship hall of the church located on the ground floor. The entrance is off the parking lot behind the church.

Those in need of food assistance need to obtain a referral form from one of the city’s social service agencies; Let’s Celebrate, Urban League, PACO Agency, Women Rising, Jersey City Resident Response Center, Hudson Casa or Horizon Family Success Center. Bring the referral and some form of ID the day of the Food Pantry. Each client usually receives two bags of groceries and some kind of frozen meat, depending on what is available from the NJ Community Food Bank that month.

The deacons are in need of volunteers who can help on Friday mornings just before the monthly food pantry when the NJ Community Food Bank delivers the shipment of food. The delivery truck arrives sometime between 8:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Please talk with one of the deacons or call the church office 201-433-1815 if you’d like to learn more about this volunteer opportunity. The next delivery is Friday morning, September 29th.
