Jersey City Together – Water Action
The Schools Water Fountains project is complete! 1,169 drinking fountains installed! Thanks to organizing by Jersey City Together and the hard work of the Jersey City Public Schools staff, the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority, and many others, students and staff at every JCBOE school and early childhood learning center now have clean drinking water with new water fountains. On June 22nd we will observe Children’s Sunday and recognize various mile markers in the lives of our young people during worship. This marks the end of the church school year before we take a break for the summer. Following worship on that Sunday we will hold our annual church picnic. We will gather in the south parking lot for food, fellowship and music. Burgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert…

Clean-Up Day - We are planning a volunteer Clean-Up day on Saturday, June 28th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Anyone who can help with yard work (mowing, trimming, pulling weeds, raking) or indoor cleaning please sign up on the volunteer list in the church sanctuary - or just show up on that Saturday. Many hands make for light work!

Presbyterian Youth Triennium
The next Presbyterian Youth Triennium (PYT) will be held July 28-31, 2025 in Louisville, KY! Sign up for this gathering of high-school aged youth, youth leaders, and young adults of the PCUSA. Encourage the youth in your congregation to attend this life-transforming event! The cost for registration, which includes lodging and meals is $500. Bergen Square Day
Don’t miss this year’s Bergen Square Day festival on Saturday, September 13th, from 12:00 - 6:00 PM. There will be food, venders, exhibits and special performances. The event takes place on Bergen Avenue between Vroom Street and Newark. Old Bergen Church will participate by opening our historic cemetery for walking tours that begin each hour at the Apple Tree House, which is now the Museum of Jersey City History. www.bergensquareday.org

We will celebrate the start of the school year on Sunday, September 14th with Rally Day and “Blessing of the Backpacks”. We will hold a Rally Day gathering in Brett Hall at 9:45 to kick off the Sunday school year with games , stories, music and refreshments. We invite all students (and teachers) to bring their backpacks to church for a blessing of the backpacks as they begin a new school year.

Our Wednesday evening Bible Study classes will resume on September 17th. We meet from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the church parlor. This fall we will explore “An Odd Couple, Jonah and Ruth; Lessons for our Fractured World.” All are welcome.
