Find out more »Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
On Tuesday evening, November 23rd, at 7:00 PM, we will join with our neighbors in the Journal Square/McGinley Square community for an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Clergy and leaders from Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim congregations will participate in prayers and songs of gratitude and thanks. Rev. Jon Brown has been asked to preach the sermon. The service will take place here at Old Bergen Church. Participants are encouraged to wear face masks inside and observe social distancing.

The Deacons are organizing a project for the children of the York Street Family Shelter. You can sponsor a gift card for $15 for each child. Worship During December
The Consistory Session has confirmed that we will continue to hold both in-person and live streaming worship during the month of December. The sanctuary is decorated with wreaths and garland. Each Sunday in Advent we will light the advent wreath, and we welcome you to join us in person or online. You can find the worship services live streaming at https://facebook.com/jonm.brown.94 . The videos will be saved and posted after the service, so you can also watch them later at your convenience.

We will not hold our regular Children’s Christmas party this year, but will be sending Christmas cheer in other ways. Our next children’s gathering will be December 12th at 9:45 AM in Brett Hall. There will be holiday crafts and activities. The session is for all ages. During worship that same Sunday we will decorate the Chrismon Tree in the sanctuary.

If you are interested in ordering Christmas Poinsettias, please contact the church office by December 20th. The church office phone number is 201- 433-1815. Plants are $15 each and can be ordered in memory or in honor of someone special. You can pick up the poinsettias after the candlelight service on Christmas Eve.

On Sunday, December 19th, we will have an impromptu telling of the Christmas story with a live nativity tableau during worship. There will not be any rehearsals. We will just see how many characters show up to portray the Christmas Story. Anyone who wants to join in is welcome!

Yes, the church will be open for Christmas Eve. We invite you to join us in person for this wonderful worship celebration at 7:00 PM. We ask everyone to please wear a face mask inside out of care for others and yourself. There will be a service of Lessons and Carols, special music, and the service will culminate in the lighting of candles. Congregational Meeting and Annual Meeting
The Consistory Session has called a brief congregational meeting on January 2nd, following worship for the purpose of electing three members at large to serve on the nominating committee. Similarly, the Consistory Session has called a congregational Meeting on February 6th, following worship. The purpose of the meeting is to hold our Annual Meeting; to hear committee reports, receive the budget for 2022, and elect officers. Committee chairs are asked to submit their reports by January 26th.
